Dermafill Microbial Cellulose Wound Dressing

72 Y/O Male

4 pk/day smoker, De-gloved arm in farm accident

  • DermaFill applied to wound, thus stopping pain and bleeding



Day 3 

Patient requested DermaFill to be covered with a thick secondary dressing as he would be covered in dirt and mud by the end of each day farming and preparing for planting - Cast padding applied over Dermafill then secured with tape

  • Where DermaFill remained wet from sweat, dressing fell off when cast dressing removed
  • DermaFill re-applied at patient's request
  • Patient agreed to allow dressing to set up for 24 hours before returning to plowing fields



Day 8

  • DermaFill remained in place, patient patched dressing when it cracked
  • DermaFill remained clear (darker areas where bleeding occurred)
  • Even in harsh environment dressing prevented infection



Day 21

  • DermaFill remains in place
  • Patient showering and working in fields for last two weeks



Day 28

  • Patient nearly completely epithelialized
  • DermaFill simply falls off as tissue heals



7 week follow-up

  • Wound completely closed
  • Patient required one dressing change over course of therapy
  • No pain and cared for wound at home
  • One prophylactic course of antibiotic
